Company overview

Gausium (高仙机器人, also known as Gaussian Robotics) is a Shanghai-based robotics company founded in 2013. It develops autonomous commercial cleaning robots and AI-integrated service robots, spanning floor cleaning, indoor delivery, docking stations, cloud platforms and application software. In 2017, the company integrated its SLAM-based autonomous navigation into cleaning machines. As of 2026, Gausium reports more than 40,000 units deployed across over 70 countries and regions and more than 6,500 customers. It has R&D centers in Shanghai, Beijing, Suzhou, Singapore, Chengdu and Shenzhen and a manufacturing base in Zhangjiagang. Market position: According to IDC's Worldwide Annual Commercial Cleaning Robotics Tracker, 2025, Gausium ranked first globally in both commercial cleaning robot shipments and revenue. Other research reaches different conclusions: Frost & Sullivan and Counterpoint Research ranked PUDU first by shipments, reporting a 30% share for PUDU versus 25% for Gausium. These rankings use different market scopes, samples and accounting methods and should be read as institution-specific estimates rather than directly comparable facts.

About the founder — Edward Cheng (Cheng Haotian / 程昊天); Cen Qifu (岑起福)

Edward Cheng (Cheng Haotian / 程昊天), Founder & CEO, holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Electronic Engineering from the University of Cambridge. He founded Gausium in 2013 to develop autonomous mobile service robots for real-world indoor and outdoor applications. Under his leadership, the company developed a shared algorithmic approach to navigation across both settings and expanded from SLAM research into commercial cleaning systems. Gausium reports over 600 patent applications and 400 granted patents; its technical team has published work at IROS and ICRA. The company was named to MIT Technology Review China's 2023 GlocalIN Top50 list.

Founder thesis

Digital management can address the tension between labor availability and rising management costs in service industries. Cheng views cleaning as a broadly repeatable application in which autonomous robots can already operate at commercial scale.

Client case | Heathrow Airport, London

34 robots across check-in and terminal areas

With partners ICE and Mitie, Gausium deployed 34 Scrubber 50 and Scrubber 75 robots at Heathrow Airport, supported by 18 docking and charging stations. The robots scrub high-traffic terminal floors using 3D-LiDAR navigation; a multi-stage filtration system can recycle up to 80% of operational water. The supplied case reports £124,174.99 in operational savings, a 64% return on investment, an annual reduction of 341,000 liters of water and 1,760 work hours saved. These figures illustrate the reported operational and sustainability outcomes of a multi-unit deployment at a major international airport.
06

Competitive moat
